Hello again! I felt it was time to give a status update. However, before I do, let me make a personal request for assistance with this project.
HLXCE is a massive project. There are thousands of lines of code, many of which we have inherited from previous project forks. We are doing our best to optimize the daemon and enhance the web interface. These are huge undertakings. We know there are a lot of server operators and communities out there running HLXCE. As of this writing, we have had over 5500 downloads of the 1.6.14 full version, and we're glad people are able to make use of this project! That being said, we need help. We need individuals that can help create images, or can help field questions on the forums. We need individuals to file bug reports and let us know of new weapons, actions and so on for the games. We need someone to help us develop our wiki and write documentation (which we will admit currently sucks). We need new install guides that are relevant to the newer code base.
Our primary need right now is for somebody to handle the image creation, especially for Team Fortress 2, and documentation on the wiki. We are setting up a new category on our tracker to hold all these requests. We're working on a documentation page to lay out how images should be created (there is a standard and we are doing our best to enforce that). If you're graphically inclined, be on the look out for a future forum post about this. If you're familiar with media wiki and are interested in volunteering time to help us get our wiki in order, please let us know.
Alright, on to the status update.
Earlier this year we suffered a loss of data. Following that issue, psychonic, who was the lead developer for this project, had to step away from the project due to other commitments (in related news, he is now the maintainer of SourceMod! Congratulations!). This project is being carried forward by myself and octo-dhd. We are wrapping up 1.6.15 now, which is primarily fixes and enhancements for Team Fortress 2, including six new weapons, new actions and a fix for the FPS/Uptime not displaying on the server graphs.
Our next major plan is to collapse the trunks. We currently have multiple development paths we have been working on. We are going to merge all of these into our trunk, and get rid of all the other trunks. So for those of you using HG to pull down updates, just be on the lookout and do some sanity checks against our Google Code page. We are determined to wrap up the 1.7 release. To make sure we can accomplish this we may be trimming some of the daemon features we were planning on releasing. Our main focus for 1.7 will be the new templating system for the web-interface.
We hope to be getting some additional information on 1.6.15 out very soon. Keep checking in with us on the forums and IRC.
